The new CIMS policy and guidance document have been updated since the initial release on Friday 11 October 2024, to support consistency of interpretation and address minor errors inadvertently introduced during the final editing process. There has been no change to the intent of the policy.
The clarifying changes affect:
- the Sexual exploitation – grooming incident type definition
- matters that apply when reporting an Absent client incident
- reporting historical incidents
- reviewing reports.
Six glossary definitions have also been updated. Please take time to view the updated CIMS Policy and ensure you are working from the latest version.
IT updates
Providers that use their own software are required to have their systems updated for the changes to take effect. The front facing updates will have minimal impact on CIMs users., There will be some modest updates to the layout and drop-down menus. There are learning activities to support the implementation of the CIMS review outcomes.
Resources to support the implementation of the new policy, including eLearning resources, are available at Client incident management system <https://providers.dffh.vic.gov.au/cims>.
