Children matter in Victoria. It’s a great place to learn and grow. We work to ensure children and young people are safe, supported and thrive.

This week, we celebrate Children’s Week which recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children. The theme for 2024 is ‘Children have the right to a clean and safe environment’.

A variety of events and activities are being held during Children's Week, from Saturday 19 October to Sunday 27 October 2024.

Events include open days, displays, special events, virtual spaces and online-based activities. The events celebrate childhood and showcase children's achievements. These activities are organised by local councils, not-for-profit organisations, children and families services organisations and schools.

Children's Week events in Victoria are free to families with children aged from birth to 12 years. To view the map of free activities, visit the Children’s Week web page.

Early childhood experiences lay the foundation for health, wellbeing, behaviour, educational achievement, and productivity across a person’s life. The Children’s Week events are a great opportunity for families to enjoy fun, engaging and educational experiences.

A great resource to share with your stakeholders

The Children’s portfolio puts the needs of the child at the centre of a better connected, more integrated system by bringing together key system touchpoints previously spread across different departments and policy areas.

Information on services that support the development, safety, education, and wellbeing of all young Victorians, from birth to age 12 and their families, can now be found in a central online location.

Please visit and share with your networks, the Children in Victoria web page.
