About the scam
This scam involves cybercriminals posing as representatives from the ACSC to deceive individuals and organisations via emails and phone calls.
While the content of these emails and phone calls can vary, these scammers use official-sounding language and branding (include ASD’s ACSC logo and signature block) to gain trust and typically ask you to give personal information (such as passwords or bank details), money or ask you to download software.
The scam emails and phone calls also create a sense of urgency to try and pressure you into doing something quickly. Often, this will include threats that if you do not act now, there will be severe consequences to you or others.
