The Fair Jobs Code for the Community Services Sector (the CS Code) is a set of standards that seek to promote secure employment contracts and fair labour standards for community sector workers.

Organisations subject to the code are required to meet standards related to:

  • Compliance with applicable employment, industrial relations and workplace health and safety obligations.
  • Promoting secure employment and job security.
  • Fostering cooperative and constructive relationships with employees and unions.
  • Promoting workplace equity and diversity.

Organisations that receive more than $2 million per year in direct Victorian government funding to deliver community services under a Service Agreement or Agreements (from any department) will need to comply with the CS Jobs Code. The CS code applies to staff covered by the scope of the SCHADS award (i.e. are on the award or an enterprise agreement based on the award).

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) will communicate directly with in-scope organisations this month.
