The framework was developed through extensive consultation and collaboration with DFFH and external stakeholders, including those with lived experience of trauma. It promotes and supports a shared understanding of what being trauma-informed means to service users and service providers.
This DFFH framework includes terminology, principles and practice domains associated with trauma and related concepts. A practice example is used to demonstrate trauma-informed practice across different service settings.
The framework is primarily targeted to the child and family services sector, including family violence services and it can also be used to inform practice across other health and human services.
