AppConnect will deliver increased security through Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and provide a more efficient user experience. The new system will ensure that only the right people can access the right applications at the right time, protecting departmental information from unauthorised access.
Over the coming months the following enhancements will be made:
- Transition of external user access to departmental applications from the e-Business platform to AppConnect, a modern access portal with increased security and the capability for organisations and application owners to periodically conduct User Access Reviews.
- AppConnect accounts with MFA issued to users, requiring identity verification when logging into departmental applications. This will ensure secure and standardised user access management.
- Continued capability for self-service registration and a two-phased approval process, ensuring that user access details can be regularly audited and reported as needed.
It is important to note that as the department transitions its applications, users who access multiple applications may be required to log in differently until all applications have been transitioned. All stakeholders will be kept informed regarding the transition of applications to AppConnect.
These immediate actions are a step towards the long-term vision of a secure and efficient access management system for the departments.
