Why are Organisational Authorities important?
A key safeguard for protecting sensitive information held within departmental applications is ensuring user access is promptly removed when staff leave an organisation or no longer require access as part of their role.
Under existing access agreements, funded organisations must nominate an OA responsible for managing user access and ensure permissions are granted only where necessary for business purposes.
OA responsibilities
L17 Family Violence Portal
OAs are responsible for:
- Verifying user identities and validating access requirements
- Requesting application access on behalf of users
- Approving or rejecting access requests
- Revoking user access when it is no longer required
- Maintaining a register of user details
- Conducting regular user access reviews
Client Incident Management System (CIMS)
OAs are responsible for:
- Approving new user access requests
Review your user accounts
The department recently contacted registered Organisational Authorities to confirm that organisation user accounts remain accurate and that OA details are current.
Organisations should review their user accounts and notify the eBusiness team at ebiz@support.vic.gov.au of:
- User accounts that are no longer required
- Changes to nominated OAs
If all user accounts and OA details are current, no action is required.
Updating your OA details
To confirm who is currently registered as an OA for your organisation, or to update your nominated OA, please contact the eBusiness team at ebiz@support.vic.gov.au.
