The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing is offering free training to funded organisations on how to use CRIS and CRISSP systems.
Staff who use CRIS or CRISSP will learn how to:
- navigate the systems
- build skills and knowledge on how to record client information
- manage case files.
Training starts from 27 February and runs until 30 June 2025.
The training is important as it will help the department and funded organisations to share and manage information, support clients, and deliver child protection services across Victoria.
Please note that the training sessions are only available to authorised CRIS and CRISSP users.

Introduction: CRIS for contracted case managers and targeted care package key workers
This one-day online course runs from 9.30 - 4.30pm.
This is an introduction on how to use CRIS. It covers essential skills, such as navigating CRIS, accessing and updating client information, managing case notes, generating CRIS documents and recording essential information, such as alerts and meetings.
The course is for contracted case managers, targeted care package key workers, and team leaders.
It is ideal for those who are beginning practice, or as a refresher for those who are more experienced.While demonstration-based, the workshop involves active participation so please be prepared to contribute (mics and cameras on).

Advanced: CRIS for contracted case management
This one-day online course runs from 9.30 - 4.30pm.
This is an advanced course which covers accessing and updating case information, recording client contacts with parents and others, recording goals and cultural plans, reviewing case plans and generating key documents like case plans, court reports, and quarterly reports. Other key topics include creating Better Futures referrals, Home Stretch applications, and completing CRIS kinship care tasks.
The course is for contracted case managers and team leaders who have moderate experience navigating CRIS.
If you are new to CRIS, please complete the Introduction to CRIS for Contracted Case Managers & TCP course first.
Please note: While demonstration-based, the workshop involves active participation so please be prepared to contribute (mics and cameras on).

Advanced: CRIS and CRISSP for Targeted Care Package Key Workers
This one-day online course runs from 9.30 am – 4.30 pm.
The course covers CRISSP topics such as managing TCP referrals, creating cases, tracking client living arrangements, and recording case notes. The course also covers key CRIS functions, such as recording client contacts with parents and others, adding goals and cultural plans, reviewing case plans, creating key documents like case plans, court reports, and quarterly reports and submitting Home Stretch applications.
The course is for targeted care package workers and team leaders who have moderate experience navigating CRIS and CRISSP.
If you are new to CRIS or CRISSP please attend Introduction: CRIS for Contracted Case Managers & TCP first (see course above).

The course covers how to navigate CRISSP, access and update client details, record LAC dimensions information, manage case notes, and record essential information, such as alerts and meetings.
This is an introduction on how to use CRISSP for placement and support case managers, team leaders, and managers. It is ideal for those who are beginning practice, or as a refresher for those who are more experienced.

We will go over the complete placement process, from accepting referrals to closing cases, and includes special functions like managing respite schedules and carer payments.
The course is for workers who manage placement and support cases and have moderate experience navigating CRISSP.

The course covers recording case notes, tracking activity hours, updating client details, recording meetings, adding goals, managing alerts, tracking client expenditure, recording Home Stretch Residencies and running reports. It also includes team leader functions and how triage agencies record their activity hours and triage referrals.
The course is for Better Futures and Home Stretch workers, as well as team leaders and managers. It is ideal for those who are beginning their practice, or if you want to take a refresher.

The course covers how to create client cases, track expenditures, manage Home Stretch accommodation records and residencies and process referrals for Better Futures. Other key tasks include creating, processing and receiving change requests, processing independent proposals, and closing service provisions and cases. PCAF workers will learn how to create stand-alone Better Futures service provisions.
The course is for Better Futures and Home Stretch workers and team leaders who have moderate experience navigating CRISSP.

The course covers navigating CRISSP, creating running sheets, managing referrals, and handling kinship assessments. Key topics include first supports processes, creating client records, tracking service provisions, recording expenditures, and managing brokerage grants.
The course is for workers who manage kinship care cases using CRISSP and have moderate experience navigating the system.
