Updated Support for Carers During Investigations

The Client Incident Management System (CIMS) review carefully balanced the need to support carers within the broader safeguarding framework of CIMS. In response to carers’ lived experience feedback, new requirements have been incorporated into the CIMS policy to strengthen support for carers who are the subject of a CIMS allegation.

While undergoing a CIMS investigation can be challenging for carers, these investigations are essential to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients.

To better support carers who may be involved in a client incident investigation or review, the CIMS carer information sheets have recently been updated and reissued. An additional information sheet outlining Victoria Police procedures is also available.
