Expression of interest open for new Federation University Graduate Certificate in Social and Community Services

Expressions of Interest are open for the newly redesigned Federation University Graduate Certificate in Social and Community Services.

Federation University has worked in partnership with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) and the Aboriginal and family violence sectors to update this course to be culturally safe and meet Mandatory Minimum Qualifications requirements for specialist family violence practitioners.

Forty funded places are available for the 2026 intake.

To express interest in a funded place please complete the Graduate Certificate in Social and Community Services online form. Applications close 19th December. 

Priority will be given to the following cohorts, in order: 

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people currently working, or wanting to work, in the family violence sector, particularly within Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs).
  • Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people working in regional and remote areas of Victoria in the family violence sector. 
  • Non-Aboriginal people working within ACCOs.
  • Broader family violence sector. 

The course can be completed either online or face to face at the Mt Helen (Ballarat) or Berwick campuses full time over six months or part time over 12 months. 

The course will be also be offered over 12 months for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with additional wraparound supports.
