An updated version of the Victorian Government’s inclusive language guide is now available.

The guide aims to support public sector employees to use inclusive language when talking about or interacting with LGBTIQA+ communities. Service delivery partners may find the guide useful as a best practice tool to ensure that the language they use is inclusive for LGBTIQA+ people.

The update includes adding the A to LGBTIQ+ making it LGBTIQA+ (lesbian, gay, bi, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer, asexual).

The addition of the A responds to feedback from rainbow communities. It also ensures the language we use remains inclusive and representative.

We all have a responsibility to make Victoria a safer, fairer and more inclusive place for everyone.
