National Carer Conference

Kinship, foster and permanent carers, organisations and academics have the opportunity to attend the National Kinship, Permanent and Foster Care Conference at the Melbourne Convention Centre from 9 to 11 August 2024.

The conference is being jointly hosted by key sector organisations, including:

  • Kinship Carers Victoria
  • Foster Care Association of Victoria 
  • Permanent Care and Adoptive Families 
  • Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency
  • Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare.

The conference provides an opportunity for carers to create stronger networks between themselves and with those supporting them. It is also an opportunity for all participants to develop their knowledge of issues affecting home-based care and to be exposed to innovations across the sector.

The presentations, workshops, and special interest meetings will focus on important themes affecting children, young people and their families and carers, including:

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Lived Experience
  • Young People and Education 
  • Innovation, New Ideas, and Creating New Evidence
  • Trauma
  • NDIS/Disability support/Early Intervention.
