Consultation on the new services is now open via the Engage Victoria website.
Local services will create a ‘front door’ to the reformed mental health and wellbeing system. They will focus on prevention and early intervention. This will help people get the care they need much sooner and closer to their families and communities.
The 2021-22 Victorian State Budget included $263.8 million to start work on the first 20 Local Services. Six fast-tracked services are due to open in Benalla, Brimbank, Frankston, Greater Geelong, Latrobe Valley, and Whittlesea by the end of 2022.
The Victorian Government will call for submissions to deliver services in the first six communities later this year.
The public engagement is the first opportunity for people to have a say about the treatment, care and support model and how they’d like to experience a Local Service.
People can provide feedback about the key features of the new service stream through the Engage Victoria website until Monday 20 September, 2021. Fact sheets are available in Easy English and community languages.
